This workshop is a hands-on, practical session to support teachers with the strategies and resources they need to explicitly teach writing to their students. It also covers how to benchmark writing to inform teaching.
This session will focus on:
• Understanding the literacy needs of a balanced writer and the links to reading
• Examining the writing demands of a range of Victorian Curriculum texts
• Strategies to explicitly teach the structure, purpose, grammar, vocab and other language features of a range of texts
• Modelled writing and scaffolding of an informative text (including editing strategies)
